Gus Visser and his singing duck

Published by HvdK under General

Gus Visser and his Singing Duck After more red tape than I could handle I finally have broadband internet in the new apartment. After the local connectivity commissars of KPN had cancelled the third appointment to hook me up, I filed a complaint by phone. The woman on the other side started laughing out loud.
“Sir, do you really want to file a complaint?”
Yes, I wanted to file a complaint. Another laugh.
Two weeks later a technician arrived asking me if his company had sent a modem. No! So he left again, sweating all over his body. Then some weeks later a box arrived with a modem, a splitter and some software. I decided to immediately connect my computer instead of waiting for the technician to arrive and hurray - things worked just fine..

What do you do if you have been waiting two months for a fast connection? You download anything you can lay your hands on and so did I. On usenet I could not resist downloading a short movie I had never heard of: Gus Visser and His Singing Duck, made during the dark years of the Depression. We have a depression now, so I figured this movie could take my mind of the fact that the dollar is turning into toilet paper. A nasty thing to happen if you live in Euro-land, while trying to sell some cd-roms to Americans. I will soon be losing money on stamps if things continue this way.
But Guss really brightened my day.

Click here to download the movie (mpeg). Right-click your mouse on the link if you want to save the file to your hard disk.

Now I am waiting for my Payment Processor to send me a line that it is against their User Policy that I broadcast a homosexual singer with one finger up a duck’s ass.
Fine with me, their cashier’s checks will probably bounce anyway.
Where are the Gus Vissers of today? We really need them.
